The targets create a 6v4 in possession and give the game a direction. Players learn to receive from the target facing forward, combine in the middle and find the opposite target. The targets move along their line and have two touches.
Objective
Progress from one target to the other through the middle with support and angles.
Organisation
- Area of 25 × 20 m. A neutral target player on each end line. Two teams of four.
How it works
- Point for playing the ball from one target to the other via at least one inside player.
- The target who receives plays back to the same team, which now attacks the other way.
- 4 × 3 minutes; swap targets.
Coaching points
- Receive from the target already facing the other end.
- Width: one player near each sideline.
- Look for the first-time pass to the far target when it is open.
Progressions
- Targets one-touch.
- Point only if the pass to the far target is first-time.
Regressions
- Add a neutral inside (4v4+3).
Variations
- Targets may enter the field after passing (5v4).
Key principles
- Direction in possession.
