Transitions start in 1v1 situations. In this wave, losing the ball means you must sprint back and defend at once, and winning it means you must attack straight away. Young players learn that the game does not stop when the ball changes team.
Objective
React immediately when the ball changes possession: attack after winning it, chase after losing it.
Organisation
- Pitch of 25 × 15 m with a mini-goal at each end.
- Two queues, one behind each goal; the coach with balls at the side.
How it works
- The first player of queue A attacks queue B's goal against the first of queue B.
- If the defender wins the ball, they attack the opposite goal and the attacker defends.
- The duel ends with a goal or after 15 seconds; next pair starts at once.
Coaching points
- After losing the ball: chase at once, get between the ball and your goal.
- After winning it: first touch forward, towards the goal.
- Do not stop to complain or celebrate: the next action has started.
Progressions
- Add a second ball from the coach after a goal (the scorer must defend at once).
Regressions
- Bigger pitch, more time.
Variations
- 2v2 with the same rules.
Key principles
- The next action starts now.
