  • Cone

Many players wait for the ball. In this square they must leave the cone to receive and turn the corner with the first touch, so the second touch is already the pass. Good for warm-ups or as a technical block for younger teams.

Objective

Meet the ball, take a directional first touch around the corner and pass with the second.

Organisation

  • Square of 15 × 15 m with five or six players: two on the first cone, one on each of the others.

How it works

  1. The receiver moves 3 m off the cone towards the ball, receives and takes the ball around the corner with the first touch.
  2. Pass to the next cone with the second touch and follow the pass.
  3. 2 minutes each way; then a second ball on the opposite corner.

Coaching points

  • Leave the cone at the moment the passer looks up.
  • First touch with the foot furthest from the passer, out in front.
  • Pass with pace on the ball.

Progressions

  • Two balls.
  • One player in the middle acts as a passive defender.

Regressions

  • Three touches allowed.

Variations

  • Make a diamond instead of a square.

Key principles

  • Meet the ball, turn the corner, pass.
