- Goal
A 1v1 becomes a 2v1 if the attacker sees the wall player. The defender must decide whether to stay with the attacker or block the wall pass, and the attacker reads that choice. Rotate the wall player often.
Objective
Choose between dribbling past the defender and combining with the wall player.
Organisation
- 25 × 20 m in front of a goal with a goalkeeper. A 4 × 8 m wall zone on one side; a neutral stays inside it.
How it works
- Attacker starts 22 m from goal; defender at 13 m.
- The wall player has one touch and cannot leave the zone.
- 8 seconds to shoot. Change the side of the wall zone every round.
Coaching points
- Attack the defender's inside shoulder to open the wall pass.
- If the defender steps across to block the pass, dribble.
- After the pass, sprint behind the defender for the return.
Progressions
- Wall player on both sides; attacker chooses.
Regressions
- Defender is passive for the first two seconds.
Variations
- Wall player can also shoot (2v1 to goal).
Key principles
- Read the defender, choose the action.
