A simple dribbling task with a lot of scanning: players must find free gates while avoiding each other. The coach adds conditions — only a colour, only the weaker foot, a skill before each gate — so the same set-up lasts the whole warm-up.
Objective
Dribble with the head up to find free gates and avoid other players.
Organisation
- Area of 20 × 20 m with ten 1.5 m gates of different colours. One ball per player.
How it works
- 60 seconds: count the gates you dribble through.
- Rules change each round: only red gates; weaker foot only; do a turn after each gate; stop the ball in the gate with the sole.
- 6 rounds, 30 seconds rest.
Coaching points
- Look up after every touch.
- Small touches near the gate, longer ones in free space.
- Change direction as soon as you leave a gate.
Progressions
- In pairs: pass through the gates to a partner.
Regressions
- Bigger gates (2.5 m) and fewer players.
Variations
- Two players without a ball try to steal balls (defenders).
Key principles
- Head up, find the gap.
