Football golf trains passing accuracy and weight over different distances in a relaxed, competitive format. Players choose the technique for each shot: long driven pass, chip over an obstacle or short side-foot pass. Good for recovery days or the end of a week.
Objective
Choose and execute the right type of pass for different distances.
Organisation
- Six to nine gates of 1 m across the pitch, at different distances (10–40 m), some behind obstacles (mannequins, goals). A tee cone for each hole.
How it works
- In groups of 2–4, each player kicks from the tee and counts passes until the ball goes through the gate.
- The ball is played from where it stops.
- Lowest total over the course wins.
Coaching points
- Long holes: laces, body over the ball for a low drive.
- Short holes: side-foot, follow through to the target.
- Over obstacles: chip, contact under the ball.
Progressions
- Weaker foot only.
Regressions
- Bigger gates (2 m) for younger players.
Variations
- Team golf: alternate shots in pairs.
Key principles
- Pick the technique, then the target.
