A classic that never fails with young teams. It mixes reaction, sprinting, 1v1 attacking and defending and finishing, and the teammates on the sideline cheer every duel. Call two or three numbers to create 2v2 or 3v3 situations.

Objective

React quickly, win the ball and finish the 1v1 in a mini-goal.

Organisation

  • Pitch of 20 × 15 m with a mini-goal at each end. Two teams numbered 1 to 5 (or more) on opposite sidelines. Coach with balls on one side.

How it works

  1. The coach calls a number and plays the ball into the pitch.
  2. The two players race for the ball; each team attacks one goal.
  3. The duel ends with a goal or after 20 seconds.
  4. Call two numbers for 2v2.

Coaching points

  • Get up quickly and sprint to the ball.
  • Arrive with your body between ball and opponent.
  • Attack the goal directly; shoot early.

Progressions

  • Call a sum ('two plus one') to add a mental task.
  • Players start lying face down.

Regressions

  • Bigger goals and a shorter pitch.

Variations

  • Teammates on the sidelines act as wall players.

Key principles

  • React, win the ball, score.
