In 3v3 each player is involved in almost every action, so they have to attack, defend and make decisions constantly. Kick-ins keep the ball on the ground and the game flowing. Rotate teams every game so everyone plays different opponents.
Objective
Make the right decision in every role (carrier, support, defender) in a small game.
Organisation
- Pitch of 30 × 20 m with a mini-goal at each end. Teams of three; extra players wait and rotate in.
How it works
- Games of 4 minutes, 1 minute rest.
- Restarts: kick-in or dribble-in from the sideline, goal kick from the end line.
- No goalkeepers; goals must be scored from the attacking half.
Coaching points
- Make a triangle: one wide, one forward, one behind the ball.
- Defend together: one presses, the others cover the goal.
- When you win the ball, look forward first.
Progressions
- Four goals (two per end).
Regressions
- Bigger pitch (35 × 25 m).
Variations
- Add a neutral player for the team in possession (3v3+1).
Key principles
- Triangle in attack, compact in defence.
