The outside players turn every attack into a chance to combine: pass out, move, receive the bounce in a better position. The game is intense for the inside players, so swap them with the outside players every game.

Objective

Combine with outside players to create shooting chances, and finish quickly.

Organisation

  • Pitch of 35 × 25 m with two goals and goalkeepers. Two teams of four inside, four neutrals on the sidelines (two per side).

How it works

  1. Neutrals play one-touch for the team in possession and cannot score.
  2. Games of 3 minutes; inside and outside players swap every game.
  3. Goal after a pass from a neutral counts double.

Coaching points

  • Pass to the neutral and move immediately to receive the return in a better position.
  • Use the neutral to escape pressure.
  • Shoot whenever you see the goal.

Progressions

  • Neutrals can only pass back to a different player (third man).

Regressions

  • Neutrals two-touch.

Variations

  • Neutrals on the end lines next to the goals instead.

Key principles

  • Give, move, receive, shoot.
