- Goal
A short speed circuit that links coordination, acceleration and finishing. The quick contacts over the hurdles prepare the feet; the acceleration must be at full speed; the finish tests the technique when the player arrives fast and slightly tired.
Objective
Link quick feet and a maximal acceleration with a first-time finish.
Organisation
- Four mini hurdles in a line, 60–70 cm apart, starting 23 m from goal.
- A cone 6 m beyond the last hurdle.
- The coach stands to the side with balls; a goalkeeper in goal.
How it works
- One foot in each gap over the hurdles, then sprint to the cone.
- The coach plays a pass into the player's path; the player finishes first time.
- 8–10 repetitions per player, walk back.
Coaching points
- Quick, light contacts over the hurdles; arms working.
- Accelerate after the hurdles, do not slow down before the pass.
- Shorten your steps just before striking.
Progressions
- Two feet in each gap.
- The coach varies the pass: on the ground, bouncing, from the other side.
Regressions
- Remove the hurdles and start with a short sprint.
Variations
- Replace the shot with a pass into a mini-goal on the run.
Key principles
- Quality at speed.
