- Goal
Walking football keeps the ball and the competition but removes the running, so heart rate stays low. Because nobody can sprint to cover, the game rewards positioning, short passes and scanning. A free kick is given against any player who runs.
Objective
Recover actively after a match while keeping touches on the ball and decisions.
Organisation
- Pitch of 30 × 20 m with a mini-goal at each end. Two teams of four to eight. No goalkeepers.
How it works
- Players must walk: running or jogging gives an indirect free kick to the opponent.
- No ball above head height and no tackles from behind.
- 2 × 6 minutes with a 1-minute break.
Coaching points
- Move into space early: you cannot run to get free.
- Short passes on the ground, receive half-turned.
- Defend by position, blocking passing lanes.
Progressions
- Two-touch maximum.
Regressions
- Bigger pitch with more players.
Variations
- Score only after five passes.
Key principles
- Position beats speed.
