Many goals come from rebounds. The goalkeeper learns to save with the hands pushing the ball away from danger (to the side, not back to the middle), and to recover to the feet quickly to face the second shot. The mannequins hide the shot briefly, which trains reaction.
Objective
Save shots through a screen, push rebounds wide and recover for a second save.
Organisation
- Goal and goalkeeper; two mannequins 5 m from goal, slightly apart. Shooter 13 m out; follow-up attacker on the side, 8 m out.
How it works
- The shooter strikes through or past the mannequins.
- The follow-up attacker attacks any rebound and shoots first time.
- 6 sequences per goalkeeper, 1 minute rest, 3 sets.
Coaching points
- Set before the shot; keep the eyes on the ball as it appears from the screen.
- Parry wide, away from the follow-up attacker.
- Get up via the knees, not rolling onto the back.
Progressions
- Two follow-up attackers.
- Shooter alternates feet and angles.
Regressions
- No mannequins; shots at the goalkeeper's body.
Variations
- Coach throws a second ball from the side straight after the first save.
Key principles
- Save, push wide, get up.
